The highlight of our year at Camp Deer Run is summertime. It’s what we exist for – literally. Camp Deer Run is and always will be first and foremost a summer camp. But our summer season is only 10 weeks long (and that’s including summer staff orientation). So what happens when the summer is over? What goes on at a Camp with no campers? More than you might think! Let’s check out what’s on the schedule through the end of 2022.
August
As soon as summer camp ends we start looking forward to the next time we’ll see our campers, families, and alumni again. Throughout the off-season – if you want to call it that – we have several Camp Deer Run Retreats that bring a little summer fun to every season of the year.
First up this year is the Men’s Alumni Retreat. From August 26-28, we’ll welcome Deer Run guys from all eras of Camp Deer Run. Any male former camper or staff member is welcome and encouraged to join us for a weekend in the woods, reconnecting with God, with each other, and with Camp Deer Run. There will be Deer Run alumni of all ages and there’s no doubt it’ll be a good time. Get more information about Alumni Retreats here.
September
Next, the first-ever Mother-Daughter Retreat will take place on September 9-11. This weekend is all about the girls. God created a special relationship between mothers and daughters, and we’re going to spend the weekend digging deeper into building up those Christ-centered mother-daughter relationships. Of course, it wouldn’t be Camp Deer Run if we didn’t have a ton of fun along the way. There is already an awesome group of girls signed up and we want you to join us! Click here for more info.
October
Fall doesn’t officially arrive until the 4:12 Retreat at Camp Deer Run! Every autumn we look forward to a weekend of Camp with a little cooler weather with our younger campers (ages 9-13) at the 4:12 Retreat. This year, the 4:12 Retreat falls on October 7-9. It’s an awesome weekend to get back out to Camp, see the friends you made over the summer, and meet new Camp friends from different sessions! Most of our summer staff make their way back to Deer Run from college to facilitate the 4:12 Retreat, so you’ll also probably get to see your favorite staff members too! Registration for the 4:12 Retreat will open soon. Stay tuned to our website and our social media pages for 4:12 Retreat announcements.
November
In November, we welcome back our Summer Staff for a Staff Retreat just before the week of Thanksgiving. It’s such a fun weekend getting the staff back together after almost a whole semester of school has passed since the summer.
Retreat Groups
Lastly, all throughout the school year, churches, youth groups, and other organizations come out to Dear Ol’ Deer Run for weekend retreats. Most weekends, even when there’s not a Camp-sponsored event on the schedule, Camp is actually alive with people from all different places and of all different ages enjoying the peace and quiet of the woods and spending time with each other and with God. So, when are we going to see you this fall?
