Noisy. Loud. Busy. Fast. Crowded.
This is the world we live in. Our lives are full. But I don’t think this is the “full” life that Jesus talked about in John 10.
Technology has brought about many wonderful things, no doubt, but with it also came a whole lot of noise. There has never been a time with so much opportunity and so much activity. Our schedules are busy and crowded. Each day moves fast and we have to rush just to keep up. In this noisy, loud, busy, fast, and crowded world that we live in, there is so much to keep up with. In all the constant motion and noise it can be hard to keep up with the very most important thing in our life…
His Voice.
This is one reason why camp remains so relevant.
Camp is a place where you can hear His Voice.
Camp is a place that brings our attention back to what is most important. It is a place with a clear focus and less noise. It is a place where life becomes simple again. Camp is amazing and impactful for so many reasons but the core of it is His Voice.
In these piney woods, your attention to Him is different. You expect to hear from Him and so you listen. Here at Camp, you allow less noise into your life, and you can hear more clearly. Although camp is full of activity you live in a rhythm and with a focus that increases your attention to Him.
While camp is an ideal setting to get away and find renewal it’s not the real world. God didn’t call us to get away from the world and never interact with it. God wants us among the people of this world so that they will know him too! The great news is that God’s voice can be heard anywhere and anytime. We just need to be attentive, focused and expecting to hear from Him.
Learn from camp and the life we live when we are here and apply those things to your own life and context. In 2018 live in a way that is attentive to God and His Voice in your life.
Here is what Jesus had to say about all this… John 10:
Vs. 4 – When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
Vs 27 – My sheep listen to my voice, I know them, and they follow me.
I want nothing more than to stay attentive to God all year. I want to know His Voice, hear His Voice and follow Him. I pray that you will desire and seek His Voice in your life.
This summer’s theme will be “Know His Voice.” I pray that God will lead us all to be more attentive to Him. I pray that we will come to know His Voice and distinguish it from all the other voices of this world.
