Camp Deer Run is located in the piney forests of East Texas. This isolated and beautiful environment is ideal for our Summer Camp Program and for your retreats! We hope you enjoy taking this virtual Camp Tour. Let us know if you have any questions about our facilities. You are always welcome to visit CDR and take a look around. We would be happy to give you a tour of CDR!

NEW SWIMMING POOL!!!
Campers love swim time! During hot summer days the pool provides us all with a chance to cool off and relax. This summer campers will enjoy being the first campers to swim in the NEW CAMP DEER RUN POOL! The new pool doubles the area and triples the volume of the original pool. The new pool is a huge asset to our camp program.

CABINS
CDR has 17 cabins. There are eight cabins on the girl’s side of camp and nine on the boy’s side. Cabins are located near the bathhouses for convenient use. Each cabin can hold at least 12 people. During the summer each cabin will house ten campers and at least two staff members. Cabins do not have heating or air conditioning.
MESS HALL
During the summer time the Mess Hall is always full of happy campers pausing for a meal and probably singing, “Get your elbows off the table.” Most retreats use the Mess Hall as the primary meeting room. There is adequate space for large groups to enjoy meals together and to have discussions, classes, lessons, etc. Retreats may also use our kitchen area for cooking and serving their own meals. We can also provide some great meals for your retreat, just contact Camp Director, Ty Ford to make arrangements.

PAVILION “THE PAPAW”
The Pavilion is a great area that provides many different aspects to our campgrounds. Obviously this is an awesome basketball court but this also provides a great area for use during bad weather. As well we have all of our visitor worship nights in the Pavilion where we can hold 300 to 500 people. The Pavilion was built in memory of long time Camp Director, E.H. Smith, known to many as Papaw.
GIANT SWING
The Giant Swing is a great thrill ride! Campers in the two oldest groups (Hoches, Nashamies) experience this challenge during their session at CDR. The swing can be a part of your retreat as well! To make the Swing challenge available for your retreat please contact Camp Director Ty Ford so that he may make arrangements for facilitators to be present. The Swing is an additional $200 fee for Retreat Groups.
BATHHOUSES
Two bathhouses, one for girls and one for boys. These bathhouses have toilets, showers, sinks and hot water (hasn’t always been that way at CDR). These facilities are located near the cabins for easy use.
CANTEEN
The canteen is a great place to rest and relax with camp friends. Each day campers enjoy three canteen breaks where they can have some much needed snacks. Throughout the year the canteen is a solid meeting place for Bible studies and meetings. The large covered porch provides an ideal setting for these activities rain or shine.

REC HALL
I can hear them singing… The Rec Hall stands out for many reasons. At the end of every camp session the campers have the opportunity to paint their name in the rafters of this building. For decades this tradition has been a part of the last day at camp each session. The Rec Hall is also special because beneath these painted rafters thousands of songs are sung each summer. Every day the whole camp gathers to sing praises together during Hymn Time.

CRAFTS HALL
Once each day campers and staff visit the Crafts Hall to be creative and enjoy painting, making bracelets, carving sticks, building birdhouses, etc.

CAMP OFFICE
The camp office is open year round. From January to August the office is busy with camp registration and preparing things for the summer. During the Fall things slow down a bit but not too much with weekend retreats, planning for next year and fundraising. Come see us if you are ever in the area!

NURSES STATION
Each week during the summer sessions CDR is equipped with a Camp Nurse. Doctors, RN’s and EMT’s give up a week of their summer to come volunteer to be a part of the mission. This building provides living quarters for these individuals. There is a seperate room for the infirmary where campers who are sick may come and rest or be taken care of by our Camp Nurse.

HORSE HILL
We are so happy to offer horseback riding as a part of our program. So many young people have never spent time riding horses and we are happy to provide the opportunity. Horses are present at CDR only during the summer sessions. Horsesitters care for the animals during the offseason.

MAINTANENCE BARN (CROW’S SHED)
Scarecrow, CDR Maintanence and caretaker, lives on site year round. This building houses not only Crow but also all the equipment and tools needed to care for camp. Crow does a great job at keeping this place up and running year round!
